Business Problem: Needed data-at-rest encryption for GDPR compliance.

Project Scope: Designing an encryption solution for all data storage units.

  • Designing Security Key Lifecycle Manager (SKLM) solution to secure both production (disk) and backup (tape) storage domains, ensuring comprehensive encryption coverage.

  • Achieving compliance with GDPR by fulfilling data-at-rest encryption requirements across all storage systems.

  • Key Architectural Decision leveraging virtual machines (VMs) instead of physical SKLM servers to reduce costs and simplify deployment.

  • Implementing volume encryption for a range of petabytes of data, ensuring secure and efficient handling of large-scale storage.

  • Collaborating with counterparts in the US and BeNeLux divisions of my company for viability assessment.

My Deliverables: GDPR-compliant disk and backup environments with a scalable encryption solution, securing sensitive data while enabling flexible service offerings for additional clients.
