My Project Role:

Business Problem: Inefficient and outdated data center lease contracts spanning decades.

Project Scope: Migrating Headquarters Data Centers from Stockholm to Copenhagen.

  • Acting as Lead Architect for IBM Power® Systems, Storage, and Backup streams, overseeing the migration strategy for this project with sticker price ~$15M

  • Making key architectural decisions, such as leveraging SAN extension switches (multi-protocol routers) for seamless data center connectivity.

  • Scaling out IBM "i" SAN port numbers to improve performance and handle increased workload demands.

  • Addressing technical challenges arising from a mixed Cisco and Brocade SAN environment by implementing temporary solutions using old assets and multi-homing.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design a robust migration strategy and ensure smooth execution.

My Deliverables: Reduced data center costs by half through lower lease expenses and improved power consumption efficiency.
