Disaster Recovery and Full Loss of Service Exercises 2015

My Project Role:

Subject Matter Expert

Business Problem: Ensuring business continuity and service reliability by testing the organization's ability to recover from complete service outages and verifying the robustness of failover mechanisms.

Project Scope: Process governance, planning, leading and executing Full Loss of Service Exercises (FLSE) and Failover Tests (FOT) to assess and improve the resilience and recovery capabilities of critical IT systems.

  • Developing detailed test plans and Process Governance for FLSEs and FOTs, covering scenarios for complete service outages and failover mechanisms, incorporating Solaris and RedHat environments.
  • Performing detailed boot and installation troubleshooting on Oracle SPARC hardware, resolving hardware-specific issues and ensuring successful resiliency.
  • Leading cross-functional teams during test execution on systems leveraging Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM), Veritas Cluster (VCS), and ZFS for storage management and high availability.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders (Delivery Partners, Customers) to define test objectives, success criteria, and potential risks, ensuring smooth communication and alignment with technical requirements.

My Deliverables: Successfully planned, led, and executed multiple FLSEs and FOTs, delivering comprehensive reports with actionable insights to enhance the organization's disaster recovery and failover readiness.
